The unrivalled views across the Crocodile River and into the Kruger National Park are magnificent. Living up to its name, guests of Elephant Walk often see huge herds of Elephants as they follow the ancient elephant paths along the Crocodile River course.
Accommodation options vary from simple chalets to our more luxurious self-catering log cabins. Elephant Walk Retreat is the perfect base for families, friends, or couples seeking a quiet spot to explore the Kruger National Park. The unique position, right at the Crocodile Bridge Gate, offers guests the prime opportunity to enter the park first thing in the morning. At the same time, its proximity allows travellers to pop back to their chalet for breakfast or rest during the day.
Incredible wildlife and bird sightings can be viewed from the comfort of your patio or deck, allowing you to soak up the tranquillity of the African bush without even having to go on safari. The proximity of the wildlife to the lodge is an exhilarating experience, allowing guests a privileged view as they stroll along the fence line and graze on the river’s banks.
Elephant Walk is self-catering, but it does provide convenient breakfast packs for those exciting early morning safari departures into the Kruger National Park.
The nearest town, Komatipoort, offers several good dining options, whilst the Kruger National Park, of course, provides a choice of different restaurants in the various rest camps. We would be delighted to help you make a reservation at one of the local restaurants in town. The Park Shop at Crocodile Bridge Camp is a two-minute drive from the lodge.
There is an array of activities in the area, including our own open vehicle safaris into Kruger National Park, guided bush walks, bush dinners, fishing, and tours to Eswatini and Maputo.
Our large, sparkling swimming pool and communal relaxation area are the ideal settings to while away the warm, sunny Lowveld days, reading a book or sipping a refreshing beverage.

We cater to all travellers by offering a variety of accommodation from basic to luxurious self-catering, and all nine of our units boast superb views of the Crocodile River.
Facilities
We offer a large swimming pool and communal relaxation area, behind the units. The pool is filled with crystal clear borehole water and is the ideal spot to spend those warm, sunny Lowveld days while reading a book or sipping on a refreshing beverage.
Activities
The big 5 as well as an array of other wildlife, and birdlife frequent the area. Elephant Walk Retreat lives up to its namesake with the huge herds of elephants that visit on a regular basis. It’s a wonderful and exhilarating experience to be able to safely view these magnificent giants, as they stroll along the fence line.
About Us
The land that Elephant Walk Retreat is built on has been a family heritage since 1973.
Mike and Stephanie Klopper moved to the Lowveld with Stephanie’s parents that year, and although it was a big move for them to leave Pretoria, it turned out to be a rewarding one, where they have blissfully spent the last 49 years, raising their daughter, and their grandchildren.
